    Dear Sir/Madam,

Can I check if Xethru has any radar sensor which can detect fly insect mainly for fly counting when it fly through a region?

    Best regards,

    Hi Felix,

It is theoretically possible, but I have a concern about signal quality on this application. Radar reflection signal strength is decided by insect size and detection distance, also interference may come from circumstance like swinging leaves. I suggest you do some experiments before making a decision.

You can start with X4M300, it is able to output the 1s fast movement list, you can observe the movement at a specific distance, but I am not sure if an insect's reflection signal is strong enough to show here. If you need better performance, you may need to develop a custom DSP algorithm with radar raw data, which need experience on radar signal processing. X4M300 also can output radar raw data.

Felix, I have a colleague who has been doing that for some years.

    Hi Alan,
Please I am curious to know on which radar technologies his system is made of. What kind of insects are monitored ?
